TEXT: ACTS 17:28 KJV
[28] For in him we live and move and exist. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’
Discussion
We are looking today at what keeps our lives going. The Bible text today says, “In Him we live, and move, and have our being.” This means that we are not living by our own strength. God gives us the strength to wake up every day and do what we need to do.
The text today explains to us that we should never struggle to achieve things solely by our own strength. If we truly exist in Him, then it is wise to trust Him, depend on Him, and allow Him to take care of us. Without Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). We are absolutely nothing without God.
If God were to take away His favour from the world, everything would cease to exist. The reason things still exist today is because God is still at work. Everything was created by Him, and everything is sustained by God.
God made all things, including us. What, then, should be my approach when things happen that I do not understand?
1) Go back to the Maker in prayer
Prayer is the medium God has given us to communicate with Him because we were created for communion with Him. God created human beings to commune with Him and have dominion over all He made.
A person who does not pray regularly is not fulfilling God’s mandate. Prayer is a way of engaging with God. Whether things are going well or we are facing challenges, we should pray to God because in Him we live, move, and have our being.
2) Check the Bible
The Bible contains the Word of God that we need for daily living. Do not let a day pass without reading the Bible. There is your daily promise in the Bible, your daily comfort, your daily strength, and your daily grace. A person who ignores the Bible is ignoring God because His Word reveals Him to us.
Declarations:
I shall remain in God. I shall pray daily and read God’s Word daily, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
