A MAN’S GIFT

TEXT: GENESIS 37:5 KJV

[5] And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

 Discussions:

God created every man with gifts. Everybody has something placed inside them by God that can help them fulfill their destiny. If we study creation, we will see that everything God created is perfect. For example, God created everything man needed before creating man. Accommodation, food, and all other necessities were created before man was formed. This means that everything God created was carefully planned and thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail, including every individual.

God embedded gifts into every human being that would make a way for them in the world (Proverbs 18:16). However, the challenge is that many people never discover their gifts because they are too busy envying the gifts of others.

Our text today tells the story of a young man named Joseph. God gave him the rare gift of dreaming. His brothers hated him even more because of that gift. Although they already disliked him, the gift intensified their hatred. There are some enemies you cannot avoid, no matter how wise, humble, or modest you are. They become enemies simply because of the gifts and grace you carry, and that is not your fault. It is God’s grace and mercy upon your life. They cannot understand why you should possess such gifts and not them.

The lesson to note in today’s devotional is that no matter how much you are hated by people, make sure you are not hated by God. As long as your gifts are used for God’s will and purposes, every act of hatred from the enemy will ultimately work together to make you greater.

We must also be careful not to stand in the way of others because they are gifted. Instead, we should do everything within our capacity to ensure that the gifts of those who come our way find expression. We can do this by encouraging them and helping them in the best way possible, because this too is a service unto God.

It is also important to note that the hatred and envy of others should never stop you from expressing your gifts. Do not give room to fear, discouragement, or intimidation. Your best is yet to come, in Jesus’ name.

I shall surely hear your testimonies in Jesus’ name

Declaration:

I shall use my gifts and talents for God’s purpose, and there is nothing the enemy can do about it, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
