BEING GOOD IS NOT ENOUGH PART 1

BEING GOOD IS NOT ENOUGH PART 1

TEXT: ACTS 11:24 NKJV

[24] For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.

Discussion

Today devotional focused on what was written about a man called Barnabas. He was described as a good man, full of the Holy Ghost and of faith. It is not enough to be a good person/christian; for us to be useful to the Kingdom of God we must be full of the Holy Ghost and faith.

The Holy Ghost is very important in fulfilling the mandate/will of God on earth. Jesus commanded the disciples to tarry in Jerusalem until they were filled with the Holy Ghost because there are stages of life that only their good character could fail, but the Holy Ghost is the secret that would keep them going. Some benefits of the Holy Spirit are below:

Holy Ghost gives boldness: Peter was a good man but timid. He denied Jesus not because he was a bad man but because his spirit was weak and fearful. But when the Holy Ghost came upon him, he ministered with so much boldness that three thousand people turned to Jesus.

Holy Ghost gives strength: There are times when our strength fails us because of the limitations of human beings. Elijah, for example, was able to run faster than the chariot not by his own strength but by the hand of the Lord that was upon him.

Holy Ghost gives wisdom: When they realized that Peter was an unlearned man, they knew that he had moved with Jesus. There was the Spirit in Jesus that gave him extraordinary wisdom to deal with complex situations. There is spirit man, the breath of the almighty that gives Him understanding. That Spirit is the Holy Ghost.

Brethren, Being a good Christian is not enough. We must be Christians full of the Holy Ghost, and this means we must learn to tarry in God’s presence in prayer until we are filled with His power.

Declarations:

I shall not be just a good Christian but a Christian full with the Holy Ghost in Jesus name. Amen.
