TEXT: JOHN 9:11 KJV
[11] He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
Discussions:
Today’s devotional focuses on the story of a blind man in the Bible who encountered Jesus. This blind man’s healing was for the glory of God, but the miracle was also tied to his absolute trust and obedience to Jesus’ instruction.
The method Jesus used to heal this blind man was very different. Jesus made clay, put it on the man’s eyes, and instructed him to go and wash it off in the Pool of Siloam. Jesus only gave the blind man an instruction to follow; He did not tell him that he would be healed.
Verse 7: “And he said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam (which is by interpretation, Sent). He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.”
The moment Jesus gave him that instruction, the miracle of his healing had already been set in motion and was waiting for him at the Pool of Siloam. If he had gone to the Pool of Bethesda instead because of its reputation as a place of healing, he would have missed his testimony.
There are blessings tied to divine instructions. There is a blessing with your name written on it at the place God wants you to be.
It is also important to note that not all instructions are generic. Some people could also have gone to Siloam and not been healed because it is not about copying what God told someone else to do; it is about obeying what God is telling you personally. Although the pool was called “Sent,” it did not mean that every blind person at that time was sent there. Only one blind man was specifically sent there.
As we meditate on this today, there are some questions we must ask ourselves:
1. Am I where God has asked me to be?
2. Have I missed any of God’s instructions?
3. Am I unconsciously copying others instead of seeking God’s specific direction for my life?
Declarations:
Lord, please have mercy on me. Guide me to my own place of assignment, where my miracle awaits me in Jesus’ Amen.
