A REBELLIOUS HOUSE

A REBELLIOUS HOUSE

TEXT: EZEKIEL 12:2 KJV

“Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. ”

Discussion

Today’s devotional focuses on what God told Ezekiel about the state of the nation. The Bible says that the Lord called them a rebellious house one that had eyes but did not see, and ears but did not hear. This simply means that they knew what was right but chose not to do it. When a person chooses not to do what is right, even though they are aware of it, that is an attribute of a rebellious person. If God gives an instruction and we choose not to follow it, that is rebellion.
Many Christians know the truth, but the truth has not set them free because they choose to remain in falsehood.

Every human being is a host to a spirit or spirits. No human being is empty in the spiritual realm. This is sometimes generally referred to as energy. People go about with different kinds of spiritual influences. Someone may either host a negative or positive influence, which I will refer to as a bad or good spirit.

When the Bible refers to us as the temple of the living God, it means that we are a dwelling place where God lives. In other words, we allow the Spirit of the Lord to manifest in our lives and find full expression through us. We host the Holy Spirit. Anyone who hears and obeys God’s instructions makes room for the Holy Spirit to dwell comfortably in them. The challenge is that when the Holy Spirit leaves as a result of disobedience, other spirits may come in and take up residence.

Our bodies are not meant to host evil spirits; they are made to host God. Therefore, we need to take this seriously and be more careful and intentional about allowing God to dwell within us.

The spirit of rebellion always starts with disobedience, having ears that can hear but choosing not to listen to God’s command, or having eyes that can see but choosing not to see what God is drawing our attention to. This spirit of rebellion is so serious that it is compared to witchcraft in the Bible (1 Samuel 15:23).

Today, take a few quiet minutes to think about every instruction God has given you that you have done nothing about. Ask yourself whether you have intentionally decided to do otherwise. Let us ask God for mercy. Ask God to deliver us from every form of rebellion that has found its way into our minds. Invite the Holy Spirit to dwell within you and remain in you.

If the Holy Spirit could come upon Jesus and remain upon Him, then the Holy Spirit can also remain upon us( John 1:37)

Declaration:

I have hearing ears and seeing eyes, in Jesus’ name.
