THAT I AM THE LORD

TEXT: 1 KINGS 20:28 KJV

[28] Then the man of God went to the king of Israel and said, “This is what the Lord says: The Arameans have said, ‘The Lord is a god of the hills and not of the plains.’ So I will defeat this vast army for you. Then you will know that I am the Lord.”

Discussion

Today’s devotional focuses on the purpose of testimony. God performs miracles for a purpose. Jesus came into the world and performed many signs and wonders, not just to put on a show. The signs and wonders were a testament to His assignment. They were proof that Jesus is Lord and that there is no other God besides Jehovah, the living God.

Every miracle we receive from God is a potential salvation message that must not be wasted. Our Bible text today reminds us of the reason for the great deliverance God gave to Israel over the Syrians. The reason God gives us victory over our enemies is so that people will know that He is the LORD.

The Bible is filled with many testimonies of God’s miracles, from Genesis to Revelation. Many times, we get carried away by God’s miracles, deliverance, breakthroughs, success, and riches and think that God did all these things simply for our benefit. However, the reason for every miracle is so that people will know that the LORD is God. It is not good to keep quiet when God performs a miracle in your life. It is also not good to have an “I did it myself” mentality.

We cannot achieve anything by our own strength without God. There are some situations or circumstances in which only God can help us. There are battles where, no matter what strategy you use or how hard you try, only God can deliver you. There are also some mistakes we have made that only the God of heaven can rectify for us.

As we all come before the LORD today, anything that seems too hard for us to handle shall bow today in Jesus’ name. God is interested in showing His greatness and power through our lives, and I assure you today that the name of the LORD shall be glorified in your life, in Jesus’ name.

However, when God comes through for you, don’t be quiet. Remember that your testimony is a potential salvation message that has the ability to save the souls of many other people.
I shall hear your testimony in Jesus’ name.

Declarations:

The name of the Lord shall be glorified in my life. The Lord shall do great things in my life that will cause His name to be glorified in my life, in Jesus’ name.
