TEXT: JOHN 7:6 KJV
Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready
Discussions:
Today’s devotional focuses on divine timing for individuals. There is a set time for everyone in God’s divine calendar. In His sovereignty, God has the right to fast-forward, pause, stop, or even rewind time because He owns the times and seasons (Daniel 2:21).
Today’s scripture reading shows how people were trying to push Jesus to go to Judea, telling Him what to do as if He did not know. Jesus replied that His time had not yet come.
The Jews were seeking to kill Him; He knew that making any move without the right timing could lead to an early grave. So, He ensured that He did not follow their advice.
Brethren, let God’s Word guide you, not the words of man. This is because human understanding is limited. People may mean well, but things may not end well if you follow them without discernment.
We need the presence of wise and godly people around us who can advise us on various matters, but always ensure that they are sent by God to you.
Practical Steps
1. Do not act on any advice without first seeking God.
2. Do not look at others to determine what God is saying to you.
3. God is God, and man will always be man; therefore, keep God above all to avoid costly mistakes.
4. When you are sure that God is leading you, proceed with wisdom. Being on the right path does not always guarantee a safe destination.
Declarations:
I shall follow my Lord and not men. I shall hear Him and I shall do His will in Jesus name.
