[3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Today’s devotional is focused on the ministry of Jesus after He left the earth. The ministry of Jesus never stopped after His death and resurrection.
Our Bible text today states that Jesus has gone to prepare a place for us so that we can be where He is. This place that Jesus has gone to prepare represents another aspect of His ministry after He left the earth.
Looking carefully at that statement, the place does not seem to refer to a physical house because Jesus had already said in the previous verse that there are many mansions in His Father’s house. This seems to suggest that the mansion is already available, yet Jesus is still going to prepare a place for us so that we can be where He is.
The question then is: Where is this place?
If the place He is preparing is where He is, then it would be interesting to know where He is.
Romans 8:34 explains to us that after Jesus died and was resurrected, He is at the right hand of God, where He also makes intercession for us.
Therefore, the place where Jesus is in heaven is at the right hand of God. In other words, Jesus is preparing for us a place where we can be close to God the Father, just as He is. That place is at the right hand of the Father.
This should make us realize how special we are to God.
This should let us know that, as Christians, we are not aimless or without a future. We are very important to God. The moment we become born again, we already have a place prepared for us by Jesus with the Father. Therefore, it is important for us to conduct ourselves appropriately when we are in the presence of a King.
We shall perhaps discuss our disposition before God another time.
Ephesians 2:6 says:
“And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”
When we pray, we don’t pray from the earth to heaven; we pray from heaven to the earth. We pray from the place Jesus has prepared for us, the place to which we have been raised and where we are seated with Him.
So, when you approach God in prayer, approach Him with an understanding of who you are, where you are seated, and the position you have in Christ.
