TEXT: MARK 4:4 & 15
[4] and it came to pass, as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and devoured it up.
[15] And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.
Discussions:
The Parable of the Sower is one of the most important parables in the Bible. We shall be looking at it over the next few days.
The seed that fell by the wayside does not stand any chance of germinating at all. There are many people in the world today who fall into this category. They hear the word of God only in passing. That is, they hear the word of God, but their hearts are not engaged with the word of God at all. These are people who have no interest in the word of God. Their hearts are far from it. Interestingly, we also have some churchgoers who fall into this category.
For example, people who go to church to show off also hear the word, but their motives are wrong. As a result, the word of God falls by the wayside, and Satan takes it away from them. People who cannot remember the sermon shortly after leaving church are also in this category as we read that satan takes the word immediately from their heart. May God help us to keep our hearts focused on His word daily in Jesus name.
