LIKE A FLOOD 1 – WISDOM

TEXT: ISAIAH 59:19 NKJV

[19] So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

Discussion

Today’s devotional focuses on what happens when the enemy comes in like a flood. When the enemy manifests through the issues of life that seem overwhelming, the Spirit of the Lord raises a standard against him.

According to today’s Scripture, we are not the ones who raise the standard against the enemy; rather, the Spirit of God in us does. For example, when we sleep, we literally have no control over what is happening around us. We may not be able to control our dreams, but the Spirit of the Lord within us takes charge when we are powerless.

The Spirit of the Lord in the life of a believer is what determines our victory in the spiritual realm. We cannot live a victorious Christian life by depending solely on our own ability or wisdom.

Today, we will focus on wisdom. The Spirit of the Lord gives wisdom (John 14:26). Jesus was confronted with difficult questions intended to trap Him, but the Spirit of the Lord in Him raised a standard against His enemies by giving Him the right words to answer them, leaving them with no response (Mark 12:13–17).

The Spirit of the Lord provides the wisdom needed to overcome even the most difficult situations.

I perceive that someone reading this devotional today is in a very difficult situation and needs God’s wisdom to navigate it. I pray that the same Spirit who helped Jesus will come upon you, grant you divine wisdom, and show you the way out, in Jesus’ name.

Practical Steps
1. Connect to the Spirit of wisdom by surrendering to the Lord.
2. Cultivate a lifestyle of prayer by consistently praying in the Spirit.
3. Store God’s Word in your heart.

Declarations:

I receive wisdom from the Lord to overcome every difficult situation today, in Jesus’ name.
The Spirit of the Lord in me shall raise a standard against my enemies, in Jesus’ name.
