LIKE A FLOOD 2 – STRENGTH

TEXT: ISAIAH 59:19 NKJV

[19] So shall they fear The name of the Lord from the west, And His glory from the rising of the sun; When the enemy comes in like a flood, The Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him.

Discussion

Yesterday, we discussed wisdom as one of the ways the Spirit of God raises a standard against the enemy like a flood. Today, we shall be discussing strength. Strength is needed to fight both spiritual and physical battles. After God heard Hannah and gave her a son, she testified that “by strength shall no man prevail” (1 Samuel 2:9).

Our physical strength is limited; therefore, we need supernatural strength from God to pray even when it is not convenient, to fast when we do not feel like fasting, and to study the Word of God when it seems there is no time.

Samson was an ordinary man without the Spirit of God (Judges 16:20). When he was told that the Philistines had come for him, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and he was able to get up from his sleep and carry away the doors of the city gate with their posts and bar (Judges 16:3).

A lion roared against Samson (Judges 14:5), and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him. He tore the lion apart as one would have torn a young goat, though he had nothing in his hand. The Spirit of the Lord gave Samson that supernatural strength. It takes boldness to face a lion and strength to overcome it.

The battles of life do not give notice; therefore, we must always be ready by acquiring enough strength from the Lord to raise a standard against the enemy.

In 1 Kings 19:2, Jezebel threatened Elijah, and he ran away in fear because he had lost his strength and courage. However, in 1 Kings 19:5–8, the angel of the Lord touched him, spoke to him, and gave him food. His strength was restored, and he went in the strength of that food for forty days and forty nights.

Brethren, there is strength in God, and it is released through the Spirit of God. We must desire the infilling of the Holy Spirit and continually ask and trust the Lord for the strength to raise a standard against the enemy.

“I shall hear your victorious testimony in Jesus’ name.”

Declarations:

I receive strength from the Lord to pray. I receive strength from the Lord to fast. I receive strength from the Lord to study my Bible. I receive physical strength from the Lord. I receive spiritual strength from the Lord. I shall not grow weary or faint, for the Lord is my strength In Jesus’ name, Amen.
