TEXT: JEREMIAH 13:16 NKJV
[16] Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness
Discussion
God loves His glory to remain with Him. He does not share His glory with anyone or anything. Giving all the glory to God simply means acknowledging that He is the source of our power, strength, wisdom, and every achievement, and that He alone determines the outcome of all things.
The story of Herod in the Bible reminds us of the danger of taking God’s glory. Herod failed to give glory to God, and the angel of the Lord struck him because he accepted the praise that belonged to God alone (Acts 12:22–23).
Our text today is a warning to ensure that we always give glory to God. I pray that our light will never be turned into the shadow of death, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Many people give glory to God only with their lips, but true glory must come from a sincere and grateful heart.
If there is anything God desires in return for the miracles, signs, and wonders He performs in our lives, it is the glory that rightfully belongs to Him.
Failing to give glory to God can be an expression of pride, and pride can hinder the continuous flow of God’s blessings. Every good thing we have comes from God, including the very breath we breathe. If we do not want the source of our life-giving supply to cease, we must continually give God the glory day and night from our hearts.
Acts 17:28 (KJV)
“For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.”
There are countless reasons to give God all the glory. The gift of life, the privilege of each new day, the wonder of our existence, the marvelous creation of human beings (God’s most valued earthly creation) and even the miracle of sleeping and waking up each day are all reasons to glorify Him.
It is very easy to get carried away, especially when people begin to praise or celebrate us. However, we must be intentional about directing all the glory back to God, the Mastermind behind every success we experience.
Declarations:
All the glory must be to God, for He alone is worthy of my praise. I refuse to take glory for myself. I acknowledge God as the source of every blessing, achievement, and success in my life. All the glory be to God over my life, now and always, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
