TEXT: MARK 11:2 KJV
“and saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him. ”
Discussion
Today, we shall discuss the colt that Jesus asked His disciples to bring to Him. Jesus was not physically there when the colt was tied, yet He could see the colt in the realm of the Spirit. Jesus saw a colt that no one was interested in, yet He knew that it was useful for Him.
Our focus today is to understand the purpose of the colt on earth. The purpose of the colt was to become the one that would carry Jesus to Jerusalem, yet it was tied. We can use the colt as an example of a vessel used by Jesus, just as we are vessels in the hands of God.
Every other colt may have found someone to ride on it, but this particular colt had never found anyone to use it. Yet, it did not know that God was preparing it for a greater assignment and purpose.
Many times, we go through situations whose reasons we do not understand. We experience delays and periods of stagnation, just like the colt. But God may be preparing us for a greater glory.
This colt was tied in a particular place for a purpose. Its stagnation and seemingly useless condition were part of God’s purpose. The reason for losing the colt was so that it could be brought to Jesus. The reason for its release was for Jesus’ use and not for anything else.
Many Christians receive miracles, blessings, healing, and deliverance from God, but they do not bring these blessings back to God for His use. We forget that the blessing was given for a purpose that God originally intended.
Sometimes, we even forget to share testimonies about God’s miracles and let the world know that He is the One who performed them. The colt was loosed and brought to Jesus. We must never forget that the purpose of every miracle, healing, and deliverance is so that the name of the Lord might be glorified.
The colt that was once considered irrelevant and useless became an honourable colt because Jesus sat on it. Just imagine what must have been going through the mind of the colt when Jesus sat on it and people were hailing Him and placing their garments on the ground for the colt to walk on.
The colt must have felt special, experiencing a level of honour that it had never known before.
As long as Jesus remained on the colt, the colt was honourable. But the moment Jesus stepped down from the colt, it became ordinary again.
Brethren, if there is anything we must desire, it is that Jesus should never stop using us. An ordinary colt became celebrated because Jesus was on it, but the moment Jesus stepped down, the colt became ordinary again.
I will urge us to take about 15 minutes today to pray to God, asking the Lord never to stop using us for His glory. Let us pray that anything that will prevent God from using us for His glory should be rooted out of our lives.
Prayer Point:
Father, please do not let me go away from Your presence. Please, Lord, do not stop using me as an extension of Your glory. Have mercy on me, Lord. Amen.
