TEXT: 3 JOHN 1:2 NKJV
[2] Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
Discussion
Happy New Month! Welcome to the month of August. May this be a month of new beginnings and greater things for you in Jesus’ name. Today’s devotional focuses on our physical, emotional, and mental health.
Today’s Bible text is part of a letter that the Apostle John wrote to an elder named Gaius. John said, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers” (3 John 1:2). This reveals God’s desire for His children to enjoy both spiritual and physical well-being.
This single verse encompasses many of the things needed to live a prosperous Christian life. Prosperity is important for Christians. There is nothing edifying about living in poverty and lack. While we must not become prosperity-driven, we should desire to prosper and ask God to bless the work of our hands. However, prosperity should also include good health. Sickness and disease are not God’s desire for His children. They not only affect the individual but also place a burden on family members and loved ones.
Furthermore, the Apostle John expressed God’s desire for us to be in good health. Jesus paid the price for our healing on the cross, and through His sacrifice, we received healing over 2,000 years ago. However, whenever sickness or any form of disease threatens our bodies, we must stand firmly on God’s Word and enforce the victory of our wholeness through faith.
I prophesy that someone reading this devotional today in need of God’s intervention concerning their health. I have come to remind you that you have been healed by the stripes of Jesus (Isaiah 53:5). Every health condition and diagnosis shall disappear from your body, and they shall no longer be found in Jesus’ name.
Declarations:
I shall live in good health, in Jesus’ name.
I live in divine health, in Jesus’ name.
