[19] Whereupon, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient unto the heavenly vision:
Discussion
Today’s devotional shall focus on what the Apostle Paul said to King Agrippa. He declared that he was not disobedient to the heavenly vision. Here, I define the heavenly vision as the heavenly mandate or assignment that God gave to Paul on his way to Damascus.
Apostle Paul was recounting his encounter on the road to Damascus and explaining what Jesus had instructed him to do. He remained faithful to that assignment throughout his ministry.
There is such a thing as the purpose or will of God. God has a reason for everything He created. Nothing was made without purpose. God has a vision or mandate for every individual that must be fulfilled before we leave this earth. The Lord said to Jeremiah that He knew him before he was formed in his mother’s womb (Jeremiah 1:5). God is very intentional about every individual, and He created each of us with unique qualities, showing that He had a specific purpose in mind before creating us.
Apostle Paul’s confidence in how he had fulfilled the vision God gave him is worth emulating. It is one thing to know God’s will and purpose for your life, but it is another to be diligent enough to ensure that God’s purpose is fulfilled in your life.
It takes determination and spiritual strength for the heavenly vision to come to pass. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force (Matthew 11:12). There are many forces that seek to prevent the heavenly vision from being fulfilled. We fight against Satan and his agents, and we also fight against our own flesh and selfish desires. As we make up our minds to fulfil the heavenly vision, may God grant us the strength, wisdom, tenacity, and grace to succeed, in Jesus’ name.
The most terrible thing in life is to work diligently while on the wrong path. To paraphrase Dr. Myles Munroe, of blessed memory, “All roads are good, but your destination determines whether a road is the right one for you.” We must be obedient to the heavenly vision God has given us and labour faithfully so that we may receive the crown.

1. Lord, help me to be obedient to Your heavenly vision for my life.
2. Lord, grant me the grace to overcome myself as I seek to fulfil Your will. Help me never to stand in the way of Your purpose for my life.
3. Lord, please guide me along the right path and help me to fulfil Your purpose for my life.
