TEXT: MICAH 3:4 NKJV
Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.
Discussion
Today we shall be discussing evangelism and what happens when a nation abandons God’s precepts. God is merciful, but He is also a God of judgment. Today’s text is a warning to the leaders of Jacob and the princes of the house of Israel that He will ignore their cries.
It is a terrible thing to be under a sealed heaven. This simply means that prayers are not reaching heaven, let alone being answered. That is why we must pray for the nation we live in. We must pray for our nation because we are part of it. If you live in a nation that has been marked by God as an evil nation, it will affect everyone living in it.
Today’s Bible text says that God will hide His face from the nation because of its evil deeds. It is a terrible thing for God to hide His face. When God hides His face, the devil shows his.
It is important that all Christians see themselves as missionaries wherever they relocate. God can send people out in many ways. Some hear God directly, as Abraham did, while others are sent through different means. However we are sent, we must carry out the work of an evangelist wherever God places us.
Some questions to consider are:
* How many churches are in my area?
* How many of those churches are active and effective?
* What is the approximate ratio of believers to unbelievers in my area?
* How is my area responding to evangelism?
* What more can I do to advance the gospel in my community?
We must be passionate about the places where we live. We must preach the gospel in the best way we can. There are many ways to evangelise without necessarily preaching a sermon, including:
1. Giving out tracts consistently in your neighbourhood.
2. Showing kindness to the people around you.
3. Praying consistently for your neighbourhood:
* Pray for marriages in your neighbourhood.
* Pray for children in your neighbourhood.
* Pray for single parents.
* Pray against every form of evil in your neighbourhood.
* Pray for your councillors and Members of Parliament (MPs).
* Pray for the President or Prime Minister.
When Haman was determined to destroy the Jews, Mordecai sent a message to Esther, reminding her not to think that she would escape when trouble comes. In other words, her actions would not only save the Jewish people but also save her own life.
Likewise, brethren, be passionate about where you live not only for the sake of others but also for your own sake.
May the Lord never abandon our nation, in Jesus’ name.
Declarations:
The Lord shall not abandon the nation where I live. My nation shall serve the Lord. The Lord shall not hide His face from the nation where I live.
