TEXT: GENESIS 3:8 NKJV
[8] And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
Discussion
Today’s devotional focuses on our fellowship with God. God wants to be Lord over our lives, not by force, but through a loving relationship. Throughout today’s text, we see how God came to Adam and Eve in the cool of the day to fellowship with them. Fellowship means having heart-to-heart communication. God desires to have a heart-to-heart conversation with us.
As you wake up each morning, God should be the first thing that comes to your mind. God loves fellowship, and He rewards it. The Bible admonishes us not to forsake the assembly of believers (Hebrews 10:25). However, this should not come at the expense of neglecting our personal fellowship with God.
Many Christians do not forsake the gathering of believers, yet they neglect their personal fellowship with God. Fellowship with other believers does not automatically mean fellowship with God. Fellowship with brethren is most effective when everyone already has a personal relationship and fellowship with God. If believers gather together without first fellowshipping with God individually, their gathering will not fulfil the objective of Hebrews 10:25.
To fellowship with God means setting aside time for Him each day through personal prayer and Bible reading. We live in a fast-paced world where it is easy to forget or ignore fellowship with God, but we must prioritise it above everything else each day.
There are many advantages and benefits of fellowshipping with God:
1. You have the boldness to call upon God.
2. You are empowered to overcome the day’s temptations.
3. You receive divine instruction that helps you navigate life’s challenges.
4. You are reminded of what God has spoken to you in the past but may have forgotten.
5. You build a deeper and stronger relationship with God in the place of fellowship.
Declarations:
I shall not forsake my fellowship with God, in Jesus’ name. I receive the grace to build and maintain a strong, consistent fellowship with the Lord, in Jesus’ name.
