DETAILED VISION

TEXT: ACTS 9:11–12 NKJV

[11] So the Lord said to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying. [12] And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting his hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.”

Discussion

The text today narrates how Saul of Tarsus had an encounter with Jesus Christ. The previous verses explained how Jesus appeared to him in the form of a bright light and how he was led by the hand into Damascus.

The Lord appeared to Ananias and gave him a detailed vision concerning his assignment, which was instrumental in launching Saul’s ministry. He gave him the name of the street (Straight Street), the name of the house (the house of Judas), the name of the person he was to meet (Saul), his surname (Tarsus), and even what he was doing that is, praying.

Beloved, there is nothing better than having detailed information beforehand. Knowing that there is a pit ahead will save a wise person from falling into it.

There is a story I once heard from a pastor that I would love to share. An employee in a factory had a dream in which his boss, wearing a red shirt, asked him to carry out a particular task. As he attempted to do it in the dream, a machine severely injured him.

When he arrived at work the next day, he noticed that his boss was wearing the same red shirt he had seen in the dream. As work began, his boss asked him to perform the exact task he had seen in the dream. He respectfully explained that he had dreamt about the assignment the previous night and that, in the dream, his boss was wearing the same colour of shirt and he was seriously injured while carrying out the task. Therefore, he declined the assignment.

His boss dismissed the dream, saying he was being too superstitious. He assigned the task to another employee, who ended up being seriously injured while carrying it out.

God still speaks to His people through dreams and visions. When God gives you detailed information, do not take it lightly. He may be delivering you from great danger by giving you advance warning.

The Scripture says in Jeremiah 33:3:
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

As you build your relationship with God, pay close attention to the information He gives you. Ananias’ destiny was closely connected to the revelation God gave him in the vision. Had he ignored it, he might have missed a significant part of God’s purpose for his life.

Declarations:

I shall not waste divine information, in Jesus’ name. I shall act swiftly in obedience to God’s instructions and fulfil my destiny, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
