TEXT: HEBREWS 4:11 KJV
“Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. ”
Discussion
Today’s devotional focuses on our inner man as believers. There are circumstances in life that linger in our minds, causing so many distractions and causing our minds and thoughts to be all over the place. Our text today says that we should be diligent to enter into the rest that God has made available to us. The word diligent means to labour, to work hard, and to make every effort to get to that point of rest and assurance.
If you have the time, please read the whole of chapter four of the Bible text for today. I believe there are many points to pick up from that chapter. The rest may not necessarily jump upon us, but we must really work diligently to enter into that rest. It is like riding a bike up a hill. You know you are trying to get somewhere up there, but you must pedal hard to reach the top. There are two important diligent actions required to enter into the already prepared rest:
1. The Word of God mixed with faith — Heb. 4:2.
2. Prayer without ceasing — 1 Thess. 5:17.
The Word of God mixed with faith gives us the substance of the things we hope for and the evidence of the things we have seen in His Word.
When we see something in God’s Word, we apply faith to what we have seen in the realm of the Spirit, and we use our words in prayer to bring them into manifestation. When we read the promises in God’s Word, faith makes us see it as a possibility, and prayer releases it into reality. The process from reading the promises from the Bible to manifestation requires a lot of diligence because there will be a lot of contention.
For example, a doctor’s report may be totally against the promises you read in the Word, so you must fight your way into rest.
The rest mentioned in the text today is not a place of doing nothing. It is a state of working with diligence and with an assurance of results until you receive that sense of victory in your spirit. We cannot just declare and expect manifestation instantly; we must keep applying the Word and releasing incense in the place of prayer until manifestation. We then carry on with prayers of thanksgiving before and after manifestation until we face another challenge.
We must possess a victory mentality, knowing that we have won the battle even before the fight started through Christ Jesus.
Keep reading the Word mixed with faith and praying. I shall hear your testimony soon.
Declarations:
I shall be diligent to enter into my place of rest through prayer, in Jesus’ name.
