AND ENOCH WALKED WITH GOD

TEXT: GENESIS 5:24 KJV

[24] and Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

 Discussions:

Today’s devotional focuses on a man named Enoch who walked with God to the point that he was no longer meant to remain among men. He literally disappeared and was taken into heaven. Our level of walk with God will determine how much of His presence and power we experience.

This means there is a level at which a person can walk with God that God may choose to bring that person to Himself in a dramatic way.

The level of our walk with God varies, and God gradually reveals Himself to us based on the degree of access and allowance we give Him in our lives.

There are instances even in the New Testament where men disappeared and appeared somewhere else. I personally believe that those the bible recorded to have disappeared and appeared somewhere else were not doing so for show. They were carried by the Spirit of God who dwelt within them because they had walked with God to that level. This was done for kingdom assignments. The Spirit of God carried Philip away after he baptized the Ethiopian eunuch, and he later appeared at Azotus, preaching in the city. ( Acts 8:39-40)

I often wonder why Philip was not surprised by that experience. He immediately continued preaching without hesitation, as though it was a normal occurrence in his walk with God.

The objective of today’s devotional is not to focus on how to teleport, but on how the Spirit of God can find us light enough to carry and use as He desires. When a man walks closely with God, he becomes completely yielded to Him. God takes total charge of the life of such an individual.
As we walk with God daily, we become lighter by allowing Him to remove the heaviness of sin and the flesh. Then God begins to use us for His Kingdom in ways that are beyond human imagination.

God is calling us to walk with Him so that we may be light enough for Him to carry us into any dimension as He wishes. It is high time we surrendered everything to Jesus so that He can use us for His glory.

Practical Steps for Walking with God

  • Determine to live a holy life — Continually ask God for help and grace. (Hebrews 12:14)
  • Pray without ceasing — Seek to know what is on God’s heart and what He wants you to do. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
  • Be a true worshipper — Worship God in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)Desire God’s presence and His Word (Logos and Rhema) — Long for Him daily as a deer longs for streams of water. (Psalm 42:1)

Declaration:

I shall pay the price of walking with God. I shall not be too heavy for God to carry. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
