TEXT: HEBREWS 13:15 KJV
[15] By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Discussion
Today, we shall be talking about what we offer to God. We can offer many things to God such as money, time, knowledge, etc. Today, we are focusing on our praise. Our text today talks about offering to God the sacrifice of praise continually.
There are two important points I would like us to explore in this Bible text today:
1. Praise continually
2. The First Fruit of Our Lips
1. Praise continually
The praise of God must not just be an event that happens when things feel okay. The praise of God must be in our mouths whether we feel like praising Him or not. It is very easy to praise God more when you have just received a miracle or heard great news, but many times, it is difficult to praise God when challenges come our way and make us feel as though God is silent about our situation.
We are admonished today to praise God continually; morning, noon, and night. Praise Him with instruments; praise Him with your dance (Psalm 150:4). Praise Him continually. God loves to see your praise because He dwells in the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).
2. The First Fruit of Our Lips
This is a very important point in today’s devotional because most people do not do this. God wants to hear you praise Him first every day before you start speaking to anyone.
The things you do first every day matter. When there are many tasks to do at work, we have been taught to prioritise our workload. We get the necessary and important ones done first. It is the same with God. God is the most important and necessary priority of our lives for each day.
When you get out of bed in the morning, God should be the very first One to whom you express your love. Nobody on earth is more important to you than the One who made you, i.e., God.
Also, we cannot claim to love God while our phone is the first thing we give attention to every morning.
As God’s children, we must look forward to speaking to Him every morning. God would like to hear you say words like, “Good morning, Lord,” “I love You, Lord,” and “I am grateful, Lord.”
It is very important that we stand before God first every day of our lives before we stand before any man. Giving God the first fruit of our lips matters to God every morning, and we cannot afford to deny God the love that is due to Him.
Declarations:
I shall give unto God the first fruit of my lips every morning. I will not deny God the love that is due to Him. God loved me first, and I must love Him in return.
