[46] This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
Discussion
Today, we shall examine the power of words. We live in a world where life is, in many ways, a battle of words. The world was created by words (John 1:1), so we cannot successfully live in a world made by words without knowing how to use our own words. We live in a world where things are created through words, and they manifest before our very eyes, either sooner or later.
Our Bible text today tells the familiar story of David and Goliath. David released words first to declare his victory over Goliath. He had already cut off Goliath’s head with his words, even before he had a sword in his hand.
There are some words that should not be heard from the mouth of a believer: words of defeat, hopelessness, fear, and discouragement. Many people are living today in the reality of the words they spoke yesterday. If you continually speak negative things, you may eventually experience the consequences of those words.
Today’s devotional is a reminder to believers that our words are important and that we must use them with caution.
Most importantly, we should set our words in motion to bring forth the desired result. For example, a woman expecting a baby should speak words of faith ahead of the day of delivery, words such as:
“I shall deliver this baby with ease.”
“I shall have no complications during delivery.”
“I am giving birth to a sound and healthy baby.”
“During the delivery of this baby, good people shall be on duty.”
Are you currently facing a particular obstacle, such as debt, health challenges, or any other difficult situation? Speak to the situation about what you want to see. Let your words create something good for you.
It is important that the words we speak are spirit and life (John 6:63). Speak in line with the Word of Christ. We must set words of life in motion. When you wake up each day, speak ahead into the day. Release God’s Word ahead of you and into your day.
Who speaks also matters. Ecclesiastes 8:4 says, “Where the word of a king is, there is power.” The person who speaks determines the authority and influence of the words spoken. You must have recognition in the realm of the spirit. Your voice must be recognised in heaven. This can only be achieved through constant communion with God.
If you pray only once a week, your words may not carry as much weight as someone who prays without ceasing.
Declarations:
Any obstacle on my way to fulfilling my destiny shall be crushed today.
I shall be all that God wants me to be, today and forever.
I shall live a long and good life, like standing grain; I will not be harvested until my appointed time (Job 5:26).
