TEXT: JEREMIAH 18:4 KJV
[4] And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the potter to make it.
Discussion
Today’s devotional is focused on the instruction the Lord gave to the prophet Jeremiah to go to the potter’s house. God spoke to him through this experience and showed him that there is no life too damaged for Him to fix.
Our Bible text explains the situation of a clay vessel that was marred in the hand of the potter. Instead of discarding the clay, the potter made it into another vessel. The clay was not destroyed in the hand of the potter.
For example, if the potter intended to make a vessel with the clay but, for any reason, the vessel was not formed properly or broke after being formed, the potter could decide to make something else from the clay. It could become another vessel, a spoon, a pot, or a beautiful piece of art or decoration.
As long as the clay does not leave the hand of the potter, no matter how marred it is, the clay remains useful. Isaiah 64:8
“But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”
God is the potter and we are the clay. He can form us and reform us into vessels useful for Him.
Many Christians think that after making mistakes or facing a seemingly irreversible situation in any area of their lives, all hope is gone and nothing good can come from their lives anymore. That thought or mindset is a lie from the devil.
If God is trying to make a vessel out of you and you make a mistake along your journey, the love of God does not give up on you. He reshapes you and can make something beautiful out of your life. The only condition is that the clay must not leave the potter’s hand.
The love of God is not conditional. God does not love us because we are good; He loves us even in our deepest sins. All He wants is for us to acknowledge our faults, repent of them, surrender to Him, and allow Him to reshape our lives in the most outstanding way.
God is sending this devotional to someone who might have made great mistakes in life, or someone who has lost all hope and thinks that they are too broken to be fixed.
God is saying today that He shall surely prove Himself yet again and make you know that He can turn any situation around. You shall testify again, and no matter what happens, the destiny God has prepared for you shall surely come to pass. You shall surely laugh again, in Jesus’ name.
All you need to do is remain in His hand and allow God to remould you. The process may seem tough, but it shall still end in joy, in Jesus’ name. I shall hear your testimonies, in Jesus’ name.
Declarations:
Everything is working together for my good, and my life shall surely glorify God yet again. God shall make me a vessel unto honour for His glory, in Jesus’ name. I shall rejoice in the Lord forevermore.
