[26] His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
Discussion
We shall continue with our topic from yesterday. The discussion yesterday focused on the natural state of man’s heart if God does not help him. We used Cain, the father of the human race, as an example of the wickedness locked in the heart of man.
Today, we shall be looking at another case study of what Jesus regarded as wickedness. This is the story of a servant whose master gave him one talent, but he did not use it. He did nothing with the gift given to him by his master. The master referred to the servant as a wicked and slothful servant, not because he killed his fellow servants, but because he did nothing with the talent. The act of doing nothing was branded as wickedness by the master.
In the real sense, this does not seem wicked, but the master referred to him as wicked. This means that, as far as God is concerned, if the gift He gave you does not increase and become a blessing to His kingdom and others, then that is wickedness.
Many Christians will say they are not wicked because they have done no evil to anyone, yet God may see them as wicked workers of iniquity, all because they have hidden the talent God gave them. They did nothing about it, and no one was blessed by their lives.
What makes them wicked is that they have deprived a generation of the gift God placed in them. Some other people who should have become great as a result of them using their one talent have been deprived because of their nonchalant attitude towards God’s assignment.
Anyone who does nothing with the talent, gifts, or grace that God has entrusted to them is a worker of iniquity, and by doing so, they increase their chances of going to hell. It is that serious.
Everyone God created has a gift locked within them. We must make up our minds that everything God has put inside us shall bring increase to God and humanity. Your skills, beauty, ideas, anointing, etc., must be used for God.
I pray that the Lord will help us to bring forth greater yield for our Master. May we increase the gifts God has given us and use them to bring glory to God, in Jesus’ name.
