TEXT: 2 KINGS 6:16–17 NKJV
[16] So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” [17] And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
Discussion
Our Bible passage today is about the king of Syria wanting to arrest Elisha. Elisha’s servant became afraid when he saw the army of horses and chariots surrounding them after the king of Syria sent soldiers to arrest them. However, the man of God was not disturbed because he saw what others could not see. His spiritual eyes were sharp enough to see the horses and chariots of fire all around them. Until the servant’s eyes were opened, he remained afraid. He then realised that those who were with them were more than those who were against them.
The reason why many people are afraid is because they have no revelation of what God is doing behind the scenes, and neither do they have a revelation of the Word of God concerning the issue at hand.
One of the major graces upon Elisha was the ability to see what others could not see. This is a special grace from God. It was so profound that Elisha could even know what was happening in the king of Syria’s private room. (2 Kings 6:12)
The difference between the successful and the unsuccessful is that the successful person knows what the unsuccessful person does not know. This gift of revelation is an important gift needed in our Christian journey and also in our day-to-day activities.
Life, they say, is spiritual. People who can navigate the spiritual realm will always have an advantage. As children of God, our greatest advantage is Christ in us. The Bible says, “Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
The death and resurrection of Jesus were more than just salvation from sin. They also give us the ability to live like Christ on earth, which includes many other gifts, one of which is the ability to see beyond the natural, that is, the gift of revelation.
Jesus said to Nathanael, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you” (John 1:48). Jesus operated in this gift of revelation during His time on earth.
I pray today that anything blocking our spiritual sight from seeing what we need to see in order to fulfil our destiny shall be removed from our way today, in Jesus’ name.

I am not afraid because I see God with me. I see God showing me the way out of every difficult situation, in Jesus’ name.
