FORGET NOT HIS BENEFITS

TEXT: PSALM 103:2 NKJV

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits.” (Psalm 103:2)

Discussion

Today’s devotional is meant to remind and encourage us to always remember the testimonies of Jesus in our lives. When we face challenges, we often forget the many difficult situations from which God has already delivered us. Forgetting what God has done for us is not good. We must be intentional about living a life of thanksgiving.

There is nothing wrong with keeping a testimony notebook where we write down the things God has done for us or the times He came through for us. Thanksgiving should not be something we do only when we are about to pray. Rather, we should thank God at all times. Doing so shows God that we do not take His mighty works in our lives for granted.

Two of Jesus’ most outstanding miracles were preceded by thanksgiving:
Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead after giving thanks (John 11:41).
Jesus fed the multitude after giving thanks (John 6:11).

Thanksgiving flows from a heart that remembers what God has done. It is difficult to thank God when you cannot recall His goodness and faithfulness in your life.

We may not yet be where we want to be, but we are certainly not where we used to be. God has brought us out of many situations that could have claimed our lives or left us in a far worse condition. Thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph over the works of the enemy.

Benefits of Thanksgiving
1. Genuine thanksgiving increases our faith in God.
2. Thanksgiving demonstrates our gratitude to God and positions us to experience His power again.

Declarations:

I shall not forget God’s benefits or His goodness in my life. I will always remember His deliverance, His provision, and His unfailing love. I thank You, Lord, for all You have done, are doing, and will continue to do in my life. Amen.
