TEXT: REVELATION 21:8 NKJV
[8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Discussion
Today’s devotional focuses on two major secret weapons of the devil that we often do not realize are so serious. These weapons are fear and unbelief.
The Bible categorizes the fearful and the unbelieving alongside sorcerers, idolaters, and murderers. The Scripture says that the fearful and unbelieving shall have their part in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone. This passage shows how much God desires His children to live free from fear and doubt.
The reason these are secret weapons of the devil is that they do not appear to be sins, yet they are things Satan knows God does not want in the lives of His children. Fear is a spirit, and it puts its victims in bondage. Satan subtly introduces fear into the heart of a believer.
We need to deal with fear and doubt just as seriously as we deal with sin.
Brethren, we must cast out every form of fear and unbelief that Satan throws at us. We must not allow fear to stop us from getting to heaven. Whether it is fear of the future, fear of the unknown, or fear of death, God is saying to us today that there is nothing worth fearing as long as we have Him on our side.
Doubt arises when we lose trust in God. Has God promised you something? Has God shown you something? Do not doubt Him. God is able to do whatever He has said He will do. Trust Him with all your heart.
Fear and unbelief seem to work together. Most of the time, fear comes as we begin to doubt God. It is not possible to sincerely trust God for something and be fearful at the same time.
This process begins with Satan quietly speaking into our hearts, and then it intensifies into serious fear. We must rebuke Satan immediately we sense that he is trying to introduce this secret weapon. We must not give him any breathing space. Cast him away quickly and fill your heart with God’s Word.
Please take time to meditate on today’s Bible passage and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you. Whenever you see fear and doubt raging in your soul, remember that they are agents from the pit of hell, working against God’s purpose for your life. Give them no opportunity.
God is not a man that He should lie, nor a son of man that He should repent. He is able to do even more than He has promised you. Do not allow doubt, and do not give room to fear. You are too precious for God to leave you stranded. He knows you better than you know yourself. For example, He knows the number of hairs on your head because He numbered them (Matthew 10:30).If the one-hundredth hair falls from your head, God knows exactly which hair it is. If He is that detailed about your life, He will never leave you alone. Just trust Him.
Declarations:
I shall not be afraid. I shall not doubt God. I shall see the manifestation of God’s promises in Jesus’ name. I know that He cares for me, so I have no reason to be afraid.
