TEXT: PSALM 19:14 NKJV
“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.”
Discussion
Today, we shall focus on our heart posture. In our text today, David prayed that the words of his mouth and the meditation of his heart would be acceptable before the Lord. The heart is the source of everything we do. The Bible says, “Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.” If the heart is polluted, our outward life will also be polluted. Therefore, it is very important to guard our thoughts as the devil begins to whisper into our hearts, and to bring every thought into obedience to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.” God does not only hear what we speak; He also hears the silent sounds from the strings of our hearts. Therefore, we must be very careful about the things we think about, even those that no one else knows except God.
God deals with individuals according to the condition of their hearts. Since God knows the present state of our hearts, He relates with each of us accordingly. I believe the reason God showed the house of David so much mercy, more than the house of Saul, was not primarily because of their abilities or appearance, but because David’s heart toward God was unmatched.
When God asked Samuel to anoint the next king of Israel, the prophet initially relied on human judgment and outward appearance. However, God was examining the heart. God is far more concerned with our inner condition than our outward appearance.
Therefore, we must not be overly concerned about physical appearance but rather about the posture of our hearts. Someone may buy you gifts and bless you because they genuinely love you, while another person may do the same because they want something in return. Although both gave gifts, the condition of their hearts is different.
When we worship God, it must come from our hearts. When we serve God, it must also come from our hearts. When you pray, pray sincerely from your heart. God sees the heart of everyone, and He relates with each person according to how genuine their heart is toward Him.
God bless you.
Declarations:
Lord, I surrender my heart to You. Please purge my heart of everything that is contrary to Your will. Deliver my heart from every form of pollution that Satan seeks to bring my way. Let my love for You be genuine, and let the meditation of my heart always be acceptable in Your sight. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
