TRUST IN JESUS

TEXT: PROVERBS 3:5 NKJV

[5] Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

Discussion

The devotional today focused on how we are expected to be totally reliant on God. There are challenges in the world today that are beyond our own strength. Solomon advises us in today’s Scripture to trust in the Lord and not rely on our own understanding because the arm of flesh can fail. The best of human wisdom cannot be compared to God’s wisdom.

To trust simply means to acknowledge that God is on your side and that He will not allow you to drown in the sea. Today’s text asks us to trust Him with all our hearts, not just a part of our hearts. The testimonies of God have shown that He can be trusted.

God is ministering to someone reading this devotional today that He can be trusted. God does not disappoint anyone who puts their trust in Him.

Peter stepped onto the sea, trusting in the Lord at the invitation of Jesus Christ. After a while, the boisterous wind frightened him, and he immediately began to sink. He called upon Jesus, and Jesus grabbed his hand and led him safely to the boat. We can learn some valuable lessons from the story of Peter.

Lessons
1. The wind will begin to blow when you try to do something exceptional; that is, discouragement and fear may come.

2. Do not remain silent when you see that you are sinking.

3. You can lean on the faithfulness of Jesus when your own faith begins to fail.

It took great trust for Peter to ask Jesus to call him to walk on the sea in the first place. However, his trust came under attack, and he began to sink. A person can have great confidence in God and yet struggle with doubt moments later. Therefore, you must not keep quiet when you notice that your faith is under attack. Cry out to God and stand against the enemy. Command the enemy and his works to be destroyed.

Declarations:

I shall trust in the Lord and shall not rely on my own strength, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
