POSITION YOURSELF AND STAND

TEXT: II CHRONICLES 20:17 NKJV

[17] You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

Today’s devotional focused on a popular story in the Bible about King Jehoshaphat. The king was gripped with fear because the children of Moab and the children of Ammon were coming against his nation. Jehoshaphat’s first response was to seek the Lord. God began to reveal to them everything that would happen (v.16). He literally gave them a play-by-play account of what was going to take place the next day.

God told them that they would not need to fight in the battle. Instead, they were to position themselves, stand still, and witness the salvation of the Lord.

Every battle requires a strategy. The one with the greatest strategy and power has the potential to win the battle. Sometimes information may come in parables or symbols, but the Spirit of God gives clear interpretation. For example, God never directly instructed Jehoshaphat to appoint singers, but he understood from God’s message how to position himself and his people. He placed worshippers before the army to sing and praise God. As they began to sing and praise, the Lord set ambushes against their enemies.

It is not enough to have knowledge of what God wants us to do; we must also ask Him for the spirit of understanding and the grace to apply that knowledge with wisdom.

Your own positioning and standing may mean sending prayer warriors ahead rather than worshippers, or offering a sacrifice of service to God. It is very important that we maintain a daily walk with God in humility. As we walk with Him, we come to understand how He relates to us and learn to recognize His ways. God will always speak to us in a manner that we will not miss if we are truly connected to Him.

May the Lord grant us the grace to remain humble before Him daily so that we do not misinterpret His instructions.

Declarations:

I shall position myself to do what God needs me to do so that I may see what He has already done for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
