THE PATH OF AN HARLOT

 TEXT: PROVERBS 7:8 – 10

[8] Passing along the street near her corner; And he took the path to her house [9] In the twilight, in the evening, In the black and dark night. [10] And there a woman met him, With the attire of a harlot, and a crafty heart.

 Discussions:

Today’s devotional focuses on the harlot. Please permit me to use the word harlot both figuratively and as it is used in Scripture. Solomon wrote this text, and if he gave advice regarding the harlot, it should be taken very seriously because he was notably weak in that area.

The message speaks about the danger of passing through the street near the harlot’s corner. This is because following the path of a harlot exposes a person to temptation.

We will consider the harlot here as representing the things of the world that have the potential to lure people into sin and addiction. Some people are not deeply in sin but are merely playing around with it. What kind of movies do you watch? What kind of friends are closest to you?

It is also important to note that it is becoming more and more difficult to differentiate between a harlot and some Christians by their appearance. Christians must be separate from the world in all things—in their appearance, behaviour, conduct, and in every aspect of life.

There are many things that once mattered but no longer seem to matter, all under the excuse of “trying to differentiate between religion and relationship.”

The enemy is creeping into our churches today, making us think that acts of holiness and sanctification are merely religion. Brethren, may the Lord help us to remain steadfast in our Christian journey until the very end in Jesus name.

Declarations:

I shall not walk in the corner of sin in Jesus name. My life shall reflect true gospel of Jesus Christ in Jesus’ name.
