SPRITUAL WARFARE – PRAYER AS A WEAPON

SPRITUAL WARFARE – PRAYER AS A WEAPON

 TEXT: GENESIS 32:24

“So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak.”

 Discussions:

The Bible text today shows us the approach Jacob took when his heart was troubled. He wrestled all night. When spiritual battles look tough, this is not the time to complain or murmur; it is time to engage in prayer more than ones usual prayer time. If someone have been praying for 15 minutes before, it could be increased to 30 minutes. You must keep pressing the gas until the issue gives in.
There is a point a person gets to in prayer that the person receives a note of victory. Prayer is like a journey from one realm to another realm. This is when we move from the unknown to the known. When spiritual battles look so tough, it is time to get tough in prayer. As you pray, especially in tongues, it will get to a point that you enter into an autopilot mood where the battle on its own becomes insignificant. The higher you go, the smaller the issue becomes. We must develop a very solid prayer life.

Practical Steps
1. Clock your prayer time especially in the spirit. For example, set your timer on 15 minutes or 30 minutes daily and don’t stop until the timer goes off then begin to double up the time daily or weekly. For example, 30 minutes this week, move to 1 hour daily next week and put that on repeat.
2. Add fasting gradually, e.g. 6am – 12 noon first, and increase gradually depending on the way your body responds. Don’t forget the Bible did not ask us to fast without ceasing but pray without ceasing so its important to fast with caution. However, fasting is very powerful when applied with sense.
3. Structure your prayer times based on available time but done with focus and intentionality. Though praying in the middle of night is recommended because there are less distractions and we also have examples like Jacob who had to wrestle all night.
4. Create an atmosphere that would encourage you to pray. For example play songs or prayer clips that will keep you in the prayer mood.

Declaration:

I receive strength to pray. Every demon of slumber in the place of prayer, be set on fire now in Jesus name. Amen
