SIN IN THE CAMP

 TEXT: JOSHUA 7:1 KJV

But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.

 Discussions:

Today’s devotional is meant to draw our attention to certain things that could affect the body of Christ (the church) if they are not dealt with properly. Achan took some of the accursed things into the camp, and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the entire camp.
Sometimes, we may wonder why the entire camp was punished and not just Achan. God punished the whole camp because of one man. This is a great lesson for the church. An entire congregation can suffer because of the transgression of one person. This is why priests and church leaders must emphasize holy and righteous living. Therefore, it is very important that we expose sin in our midst so that the whole camp may remain pure.
We also need to note that there are some people who have already made up their minds to go to hell, and some of them could even be among the workers or ministers. They are ready to take as many people with them as possible. Such people will continue spreading sin within the camp/church because they are on a mission.

What should we do when we identify serious sin in the church?
1. Go to God and ask Him for wisdom and mercy
2. Expose the sin with great wisdom by informing the shepherd or church leader. If the shepherd does not take the issue of sin seriously, please withdraw from the camp without sentiment, but continue praying from afar. Only remain if God instructs you to remain.

It is important to note that we are not to go around broadcasting the issue. We are to take this concern to God and follow His leading.

Declaration:

I shall be a blessing to my camp and not a curse in Jesus name.
