JUDAH AND ISRAEL

TEXT: PROVERBS 22:5 KJV

“Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: He that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.”

Discussion

Today, we shall consider what brought down the presence of God according to Psalm 114. If you read the entire Psalm, it will show you what the presence of God can do. It teaches us the importance of carrying the presence of God wherever we go as believers.

The mountains, hills, and seas moved out of the way as the children of Israel journeyed from one place to another. This means that every hindrance moved out of their way because they were not walking alone. The psalmist recorded that these hindrances saw the presence of God and fled from the path of the children of Israel.

Let us look at the secret of attracting God’s presence according to this Bible text. Judah was God’s sanctuary, and Israel was His dominion. Judah means praise, while the name Israel was given to Jacob after he wrestled with God (Genesis 32:24–28) meaning travail until you win.

The power of praise and prayer brought down the presence of God. As believers, we must hold on to this truth and draw close to God. If we praise God, remain fervent in prayer, and refuse to give up, God will surely come down and manifest Himself, just as we have read in our Bible text.

An example of this is found in Acts 16:25. Paul and Silas combined prayer and praise in the middle of the night. The presence of God came down, and all the prison doors were opened. Not only were Paul and Silas set free, but the other prisoners were also released.

Intense prayer and praise are not just means of receiving from God; they are also ways of connecting with Him. A life of praise and prayer makes you feel at home in God’s presence at any given time.

This feeling can be described as the feeling an adult experiences when visiting their parents in their childhood home. There is a special feeling, especially for those who grew up in the family home. It is a feeling of belonging and freedom. You can move freely around the house, open the fridge, and take whatever is available. However, if you visit with a friend who is unfamiliar with your family, they are less likely to feel as comfortable in the house as you do. Most loving parents are always excited to have their children at home, even if they do not always show it.

Praise and prayer connect us to our roots and make the power of God available to overcome any opposing forces that stand in the way of our progress.

Make up your mind as a believer that nothing will ever stop you from praising God and praying daily. God wants you to show up in His presence every day so that He can manifest Himself in your life.

I shall hear your testimonies!

Declaration:

I shall show up in God’s presence daily, praising Him intensely and intentionally and praying without ceasing.
