[12] There are the workers of iniquity fallen: They are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.
Discussion
Today’s devotional is a call for us, as believers in Jesus Christ, to examine ourselves. God created man and placed us on the earth to till the ground, exercise dominion over the earth, be fruitful, and multiply. God gave us a mandate to manage this world. This means that we are all workers on earth. Since we are all labourers for the Lord here on earth, we are here to do the will of our Master, who is God.
However, iniquity has crept into the heart of man since the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Cain killed his own brother, Abel, because he was envious of him. This means that wickedness on earth did not start today; it began at the time of the fall, when man opened the door to the devil in the Garden of Eden. The natural state of man without God’s help is evil. The Bible says that the heart of man is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). This means that without God, we are wicked.
Humans are naturally selfish. Everyone tends to look after themselves alone. The objective of today’s devotional is to help us see how wicked our hearts can become if God does not help us and how we can be delivered from this state. We need to understand that the heaven prepared for us does not give any room for wickedness. Hell was created for Satan and his agents, and for humans who possess the attributes of Satan. Wickedness is an attribute of satan not of God.
God will judge the wicked on the last day. We must cleanse our hearts of every form of wickedness that may still be hidden within us knowingly or unknowingly.
Practical Steps
1. Renew your mind daily with God’s Word. — Romans 12:2
2. Ask God to help and purify your heart daily through prayer.
3. Examine yourself daily and also ask God to examine you.
4. Make up your mind to deal with every thought of iniquity that comes into your heart. — 2 Corinthians 10:5

Father, please search my heart and reveal any form of iniquity within me. Please deliver me from it. Amen.
