TEXT: ISAIAH 5:20 KJV
Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!.
Discussions:
Today’s devotional addresses ways we call a spade a spade. Many Christians call a spade a big spoon and not a spade, all in the name of diplomacy or trying not to judge others.
This devotional is not saying we should be reckless with words or be judgmental, but if we call evil good in the name of diplomacy, many people who do not know right from wrong will be deceived. It is better to be quiet than to mislead the innocent.
Every man shall give account of the words he speaks, even jokes (Matt. 12:36). The scripture today says, “Woe,” i.e., cursed is he/she who calls evil good or good evil.
Calling evil good and good evil is the attribute of Satan (Gen. 3:4). Many Christians flatter fellow Christians to the pit. Some use their words to mislead other Christians by calling evil good to them. The scripture today says cursed is such a person.
Ask God for wisdom to say things just as they are without misleading others. May the Lord show us mercy in areas where we have been guilty of this.
Declarations:
I shall not deceive others with my words in Jesus’ name. I receive the wisdom to speak the truth with love in Jesus’ name.
