TEXT: ACTS 4:31
And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
Discussions:
Today’s devotional focuses on the power of praying together. A prayer of agreement is when two or more people come together to pray concerning a particular matter. However, people can pray together without truly being in agreement.
This is very common in church settings. Sometimes, a prayer leader leads prayers for nations or soul-winning, but the congregation may become low in morale because they are not fully engaged or interested.
Any prayer that will shake the building, like in the scripture above, must be made in agreement. Prayer of agreement is a powerful way to make things happen more quickly in the spirit. However, it only takes one person involved to disagree in their heart for the prayer to become ineffective. The scripture shows how prayer of agreement brought down the Holy Spirit in the early church.
If you are in a prayer meeting and everyone is focused on a particular issue in agreement, but you sense that one person is not in agreement, use wisdom in handling the situation by respectfully removing the individual from your midst so that your collective prayer effort does not become fruitless.
Declaration:
As I engage in prayers of agreement, I shall receive quick answers, in Jesus’ name
