FAITHFUL FRIENDS

 TEXT: LUKE 5:19–20 KJV

“And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus. And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.”

 Discussions:

If you were asked to choose between two options- £1,000,000 or true faithful friends, many people would choose £1,000,000. We often forget that one unfaithful friend can turn a millionaire today into a poor person tomorrow.
Today, we are going to look at the word faithful literally, i.e., faith + full. This means being full of faith. Every person needs faithful friends around them. Even when your faith is under attack, you can draw strength from the faith of your faithful friends.

The text today shows the importance of having faithful friends. These friends were so concerned about the wellbeing of their companion that they broke through the housetop to bring him to where Jesus was. Jesus healed this man not because of his own faith, but because of the faith of his friends.

The way Jesus healed him shows that he may have been either full of doubt or burdened by sin. Jesus first addressed his spiritual condition by forgiving his sins before healing him just because his friends impressed Jesus with their faith. If Jesus can hal a man because of his faithful friends then having faithful friends around you is surely something good.

In any case, make sure you have friends who are full of faith, friends who can hold your hands in prayer when challenges come. Unfortunately, we do not have too many of such people, but grace and mercy bring them our way.

As we pray for God to send us faithful friends, we too should strive to be faithful friends to others.

Declaration:

I shall not lack faithful friends in Jesus name
