TEXT: ROMANS 9:15
“For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.”

The scripture above explains that God will have mercy based on His discretion, and no one can question His decision. Mercy is the system God put in place that makes Him step into our case irrespective of any shortcoming. One thing that seems to be common in scripture about those Jesus showed mercy upon is that there was purpose for the mercies. Joseph obtained mercy then delivered Israel & Egypt from famine, Jacob obtained mercy then wrestled for Israel, The thief at the right hand on the cross obtained mercy then made heaven , Bartimaeus obtained mercy then followed Jesus. Every human being must have obtained mercy from the Lord one way or another ( Lam 3:21-22). For example, His mercies woke us this morning. When a man suddenly obtains mercy from the Lord, it’s definitely for a purpose. If the purpose is not fulfilled, then the recipient of the mercy has wasted the mercy. Though God decides if He will show mercy or not. However, we can trigger the mercies of God towards us. The following actions could trigger God’s mercies.
1. Have a heart of flesh – a heart that is not rebellious. A humble heart. Eze 36:26, 2 Chron 7:14
2. Cry to God for mercy. Mark 10:46-52
3. Show mercy on others – Matthew 5-7
4. Be ready to live for God / Service to God.- Exo 23:25
5. Anything you could do to make you obtain mercies from the Lord.
Prayer point:
Have mercy on me, Oh Lord
