Therefore also will I make thee sick in smiting thee, in making thee desolate because of thy sins.

There are many causes of sicknesses and diseases . The scripture today shows that sin could be a cause of sickness. Our righteousness is of Christ, not ourselves(2 Cor 5:21). However, we have some responsibilities to ensure we maximise the grace that is available in God to avoid sin.
When someone is sick, the first thing to do is to check if any of Gods laws or instructions have been violated. This is where we need Gods mercy. Brethren, may the Lord help us daily to live a life blameless and holy before the Lord in Jesus’ name.
